First flu virus detector in JDWNRH

11 May, 2010 - Testing of throat swab samples for any kind of influenza virus can now be done within the country, with the health ministry having acquired a real-time polymerase chain reaction machine (RTPCR) that was unveiled yesterday at the JDWNR hospital in Thimphu.

Off-hour clinic to start May 4

23 April, 2010 - Starting May 4, Thimphu residents will be able to fix an appointment and consult their doctor of choice, between 4pm and 7pm, six days a week. This service will come at a fee of Nu 300.

The government has finalised the â€œOff-hour clinicâ€? services and will go on trial for a year at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital in Thimphu.

Boy with rabies in JDWNRH

14 April, 2010 - A 10-year old boy with a six-month-old history of dog bite has been admitted to Thimphu referral hospital.
The boy was referred from Phuentsholing hospital as a suspected rabies case and admitted at JDWNRH on April 12 at around 7:20 pm. â€œHe was hydrophobic, hallucinating and in a delirious state during admission,â€? a nurse on duty said.

JDWNRH to reduce patient waiting time

April 7: Are you tired of having to wait or stand in queue for hours at the Jigme Dorji Wangchuck National Referral Hospital (JDWNRH)? Come June and you will no longer have to go through that ordeal. The waiting time will be reduced by more than half.
